Racing in the Rain

These last few weeks have all been about recovery. Jet is incorporating back into a conditioning regime, as well as going back to Flyball as well as Agility respectfully. He’s finished with his meds, as well as I even started him back on Deramaxx with no problems. I am happily amazed at the rate in which he so promptly dropped back into a conditioning routine. Aside from loseing some muscle mass, Jet had no difficulties returning to the treadmill on behalf of his regular 30 min to 1 hour sessions. His paw was holding up fine with Frisbee games as well as playing tug in the house. We even went on a bike ride in the rain-all uphill, as well as i have to say I weighed him down with MY lack of fitness! Looks like the 16 days without working him took more of a toll on me.
Aside from being a bit on the skinny side, Jet’s level of physical fitness prior to his sickness was so good that I can’t help but wonder that it helped him get through his ordeal. He was strong as well as conditioned, healthy as well as happy, I have no doubt that all our work combined helped him to recover faster. Read more >>>

Our December
Posted on 2008-12-11 18:49:57 by ncserv |
There are so numerous things in life that we take on behalf of granted. Sometimes its the way we live, our easyness of childhood, or the never ending promise of change. Mostly, its the people around us that we love as well as share our lives with. These souls manufacture our lives whole as well as enriched sometimes without much consideration on our part. It all goes by, day by day, as well as we become accustomed to it, it becomes the norm, the expected, as well as then when its gone…poof-without so much as a trace but memory-we know what we had. Or, what we’ve lost, or an estimated lost.
These past few weeks are those I shall never forget-for they were so fragile as well as full of meaning. For in those days i an estimated lost what was an estimated all dear as well as precious to me, what made my life rich as well as whole; a part of me.
It started out like an normal injury-well, a normal Jet injury. He at all times tears his paws, as well as so when he managed to hurt it more severe then normal, i gritted my teeth as well as sighed at the next situation he had put himself in. It was just another issue to help him through, as well as he’d Read more >>> |

Its all About the Box!
Posted on 2008-11-20 02:02:10 by ncserv |
One of the an estimated all important aspects of Flyball is the dog’s ability on the Flyball Box. Hours as well as hours of training are put in on behalf of foundation work with puppies, as well as then still hours more on the real thing with an adult dog, all to get that perfect turn. There are numerous factors of a good box which is worth all of the work-dogs are safer, as the impact of the dog’s weight at fast speeds is cushioned with a four footed turn. The other factor is that the dog saves time, which means so does the team. The fastest teams all have dogs with fluid, whip-off box turns.
Here in the USA, as well as in some other countries such as the UK, the flat style box is used, while some organizations, such as Crufts, are still using the original Flyball boxes. The original box earned Flyball its name, because of the fact that the ball literally did fly from the box. Using a throwing arm as well as a tuna can style cup, the dog would trigger a small pad in the front of the box, which released the arm from behind the box. The arm launched the ball into the air as well as the dog had to be perfectly placed to catch. This was the origin of the Fl Read more >>> |

Flyball Dog Again
Posted on 2008-11-19 23:58:12 by ncserv |
So, its been awhile, as well as I’ve had some difficulties being able to log in , so i have two tournaments to blog as well as each of them were awesome in their posses special way.
In June, MRR attended the Pawdemonium tournament in San Jose. The team went both days, but because of the fact that I am slaved to the work force, as numerous of us are, I had to miss Saturday. Which was probably just as well. The PAW tournaments at all times have the potential to be very hot…one year in 06′ it was a stubborn 106 degrees both days, with no breeze in sight. Well, i was glad i missed Saturday, because of the fact that according to the team it was super hot in the morning-then got cloudy as well as rained as well as thunderstorm-ed so much that the hill contigous to the field was struck as well as caught on fire. Hmm….not tour average tournament.
On Sunday, things were in the 80’s, Jet was operational in the special division “Who’s on First?” in which each dog on the team must take turns as start dog, which rotated each heat in the race. There was plenty of racing, as well as Jet’s team, Stray Dogs, got to jog o Read more >>> |

Mutiny on Mare Island!
Posted on 2008-11-18 22:49:50 by ncserv |
The time has come. Last weekend was Marin Running Riot’s NAFA tournament on Mare Island, as well as at the end of months of preperation, i would like to think it was a sucess. Everyone arrived on Saturday morning at 6 am to set up the lights as well as manufacture sure the rings were set up. We were on a two ring schedule, due to the fact that we had more than 30 teams, which made some teams upset since they did not like the set up we used to jog the two rings. It involved each team posting their race number on the side of the ring when both them as well as their opponants were ready. Some teams openly opposed the system, but near the end of the day things were operational more smoothly.
We had an awesome raffle both days, earning 700 something dollars on Saturday, as well as around 800 on Sunday. My roomie even came out Sunday to help jog the raffle table. My job both days was to train all of the line as well as box judges as well as supervise the other judge supervisors to manufacture sure things were operational smoothly. Eveything went great as well as I met some very lovely people, an estimated all of which had never seen Flyball before, or had only don Read more >>> |
